Flashette Privacy Policy
Last updated November 2, 2026.
Who we are
Flashette is run by its developer, the seller shown on the App Store listing, who is responsible for your data under this policy (the "controller" under EU and UK data protection law). You can reach us at the email in the Contact section below.
Your photos and AI processing
When you create an AI look, the photo you pick is sent to fal.ai, the service that runs the image and video models, together with a description of the look. Flashette asks for your permission in the app before your first AI edit, and AI edits are not possible without it.
Flashette never stores the photo you upload. It passes through our server to fal.ai and is not written to our database or logs. fal.ai processes it to create your edit under its own terms and privacy policy.
We keep a link to the finished edit (the output image or video created by the model) so it can appear in your gallery. Older edit links can stop working; save the ones you want to keep to your Photos.
The free editor (tints, flash glow, vignette, date stamp) runs only on your phone. Those photos are never uploaded. To show the before and after effect slider, the app keeps a copy of your original photo on your phone only.
Upload only photos of yourself, or of people who agreed, and never photos of children. Photos are used only to create your edits. They are never used for advertising and never sold.
Face data and biometrics
Flashette does not create, collect or keep biometric identifiers or biometric information, such as a scan of face geometry, a faceprint or any template that could identify a person. The AI restyles the light, camera feel and setting of your photo. It is never used to identify you or anyone else and is not matched against other photos.
Account data
Flashette works without a sign up form: the app sets up a private account on your device. We store your account id, your consent time, your credits and subscription status, and a list of your edits (the look or motion used, its credit cost, its status and the link to the finished edit). We do not ask for your name, email or phone number.
Sign in with Apple
If you choose to sign in with Apple to back up your account, we store the unique identifier Apple gives us for your account, plus a token that lets us disconnect Sign in with Apple when you delete your account. We do not request your name or email address from Apple.
App usage analytics
The app records which screens you open and which buttons you use (for example: opened a look, created a photo, saw the paywall), so we can see where people get stuck. These events go to PostHog, on servers in the United States, linked to your random Flashette account id. They never include your photos, your edits, your name or your email. We do not record your screen, use your location, use the advertising identifier, or share this data with advertisers.
If your device's region is in the European Union, the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, analytics stay off until you agree. You can turn analytics on or off any time in the app under You → Usage analytics.
Website
We count page views on flashette.com with Vercel Web Analytics, which sets no cookies and does not identify you across sites or days. We skip it if your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal. We use no advertising or tracking cookies.
Purchases
Payments are processed by Apple. RevenueCat tells us whether your subscription is active and which credit packs you bought; we never see your payment details.
Sharing
We do not sell your data or use it for advertising. Service providers that process data for us (fal.ai for AI edits, RevenueCat for purchases, PostHog for app analytics, Vercel for the website) may only use it to provide their service to us.
Deletion
Delete your account any time in the app under You → Delete account. This permanently removes your account, your edit history and unused credits, and revokes our access to your Sign in with Apple credentials. Subscriptions are managed by Apple; cancel them in your iPhone Settings.
Legal bases (EU, UK and similar laws)
- Your consent to send your photo to an AI service. You can withdraw it at any time by deleting your account.
- Performing our contract with you for your account, edits and purchases.
- Your consent for app analytics in the EU, EEA, UK and Switzerland, and elsewhere our legitimate interest in fixing problems in the app.
Where your data is processed
Our servers and database are in Germany. fal.ai (AI edits), RevenueCat (purchases), PostHog (app analytics) and Vercel (website) process data in the United States. Where data leaves the EU, the UK or your country, we rely on safeguards such as the providers' data processing terms or Standard Contractual Clauses, as available for each provider.
How long we keep data
- Your uploaded photo: never stored by Flashette.
- Account data and edit history: until you delete your account.
- App analytics: kept by PostHog to understand usage; on request we delete events linked to your account id.
- Purchase records: kept by Apple and RevenueCat as tax and accounting rules require.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under the EU or UK GDPR, Brazil's LGPD, Turkey's KVKK or US state privacy laws), you may have the right to access, correct, delete or port your data, to object to or restrict its use, to withdraw consent, and to complain to your local data protection authority. Email us to use these rights. Because accounts are anonymous, we may ask you to write from the device you use Flashette on. We answer within 30 days.
Children
Flashette is not meant for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you think a child under 13 has used the app, contact us and we will delete the account.
